The value of work experience

I recently had an informal interview with Rosie Box, a budding copywriter, who has been learning the ropes here at Bright Blue Day. Here's what she has to say:

Simon Tipping

As the Christmas Break approaches it is time to reflect on my work experience at Bright Blue Day and all that I have learnt to date. From the correct use of industry language (randomly shouting 'Action that!'), to technical programmes (Photoshop, you amaze me) to the importance of well spaced, regular tea breaks.

From the moment I arrived nearly three months ago, still with the 'fresh-from-university' glint in my eye, I have been thrown into the cogs of a working creative agency. My opinion has been asked and my input has been expected, and when I have made mistakes they have been forgiven and forgotten.

I feel as if I have learnt more here than I ever could have from a textbook or in a classroom. Although you probably couldn't find a textbook that illustrates how to make a rather large dog your best friend when he clearly doesn't want to be.

So I offer my thanks to everyone at Bright Blue Day for making me feel welcome and being so patient, but now I must cut the apron strings and learn to stand on my own two feet. A terrifying and undoubtedly grown up step, but a step that will hopefully see me cement a future here.

Good thinking

We've pulled together our best work and our brightest thinking into three insightful booklets. Definitely worth a read! And there are more to come.
